Ryleigh Beers

Ryleigh is from Luverne, Minnesota. She is graduating with majors in History (Public History Emphasis) and Art History and a concentration in German Studies. After graduation, she hopes to get a job in a museum or archival setting – preferably one where she can work with printed materials like rare books. She’ll be returning to campus in the fall to pursue a part-time position with the Kierkegaard Library. Ryleigh’s image is Lucifer by Jackson Pollock from 1947.

“One of my favorite artists to study is Jackson Pollock. I am fascinated by the emphasis Pollock placed on the creation of the art rather than the appearance of the piece. Understanding the context of how art is created provides so much information for both the artist and the piece. While I was abroad in Scotland I had the chance to study Pollock’s Lucifer in-depth and as a result, it has become one of my favorite pieces by him.”
