The Major

The curriculum of the Musical Theater: Interdisciplinary Performance major primarily focused on the integrated elements of musical theater training and performance. I studied music, theater and dance all the while supporting growth and development in collaboration at St Olaf College. Because musical theater is inherently an interdisciplinary art, it was necessary to combine courses from these three performance areas, as well as supplementary courses from other departments. I divided my major into three subtopics consisting of: fine arts performance, foundations, and creative development. The unique courses I selected not only integrated these topics but explored how each is mandatory to another. Taking foundational courses in music, theater, and dance provided me with a basis for an in-depth exploration of musical theatre performance and its role in the world today.
