My individual major integrates concepts from diverse fields such as epidemiology, sociology, anthropology, psychology, history, and social work.
Epidemiology:
- Use and produce data to analyze disparities in health outcomes and disease
burden. - Further develop and create scientific + knowledgeable basis for policy formation
in communities with health inequities.
Social Sciences (Sociology, anthropology, psychology, and history):
- Explore how societies and different cultures practice and perceive health
behaviors differently. - Explore the impact and ramifications of adapting or introducing a policy and its
social and cultural influences.
Social work + social policy:
- Examine how policies and practices historically disadvantage the sick and how we can better meet the needs of those underserved in our communities.
- Use conceptual framework of policy making to better understand how decision
makers use scientific knowledge to guide policy-making
