Welcome to my major!
My name is Hibo and I am a native of Rochester, MN. My passion for public health stemmed from my own community’s experiences with health inequities and my involvement in research throughout my undergraduate years.
I am excited to continue my education at the University of Minnesota to pursue my MPH in Maternal and Child Health. I plan to pursue my PhD afterwards and become a maternal and child health epidemiologist. I aim to assume a leadership position in an organization focused on the health of Somali women, children, and families.
My vision is to advocate for a world where Black women are honored and valued. Somali women are the backbone of my community and I hope to create spaces where they can fully take care of themselves and their families.
My individual major at St. Olaf best prepared me for the work ahead and I can’t wait to give back to my community through my work.
Best,
Hibo H. Mohamed ’21
