Responding to a questionnaire from the Baptist Board of Education in 1922 , he notes that although usually St. Olaf faculty are Lutherans the head of Physical Training is a member of the local Baptist church. Not only that: “He is a good Baptist.” And Boe continues, “I’d rather have a good Baptist than a poor Lutheran.
