Mao Jacket

This jacket was first introduced in China by Sun Yat-Sen in 1912 as a form of protest against the traditional attire imposed on the people by the imperial court. Mao Zedong later popularized the jacket as a symbol of the proletariat. The jacket fell out of favor among the general population in the 1990s, and is now only rarely worn by government officials at state functions.
