Think about broader publishing opportunities… where else can this project live? Write up a brief report on the one marked with your initials, and see if you can find 1-2 other possible places to share our research.

18th Connect is a website containing digital projects and studies revolving around to 18th-century scholarship. It originates from the Initiative for Digital Humanities, Media, & Culture at Texas A&M University. The website allows you to search hundreds of thousands of “digital objects” (read: exhibits) beginning with those published in August of 2015. This is interesting if we decide to go for the “exhibit” format for any of our media. It offers information and projects from 22 sources, including libraries and scholars. The website is a sort of host that links directly to the websites or hosts of each individual project. One downside of this site is that some of the sites it features require you to pay to view. This may get in the way of our goal of accessibility, if that ends up being important to us. The links are comprised of content that has been or will be peer-reviewed by 18th Connect, so we would need to get approval from the moderators before sharing our project there. It is compatible for linking with WordPress, as the “umbrella site” relies on the data of whatever host is providing the individual site. It is possible to search through these sites via basic or advanced criteria. Users can make accounts to save objects or searches and add their own material. Under ‘Exhibits’, you can see all the exhibits that have been published by other users.

Two other resources that we could possibly use to publish our projects are the BBC’s Research and Education Space (RES) which is UK based https://bbcarchdev.github.io/res/

We could possibly pursue publication through journals like Digital Humanities Quarterly, or try to attend Digital Humanities conferences to present our work. Overall, I regret to say that I am having a really hard time finding more of these sorts of platforms that we could use. I am interested to see what other people come up with.

Another potentially interesting resource (unrelated) that I discovered while searching for publication platforms is this: http://grubstreetproject.net/
