Becoming Carbon Experts

This semester will begin with your presentations to get us thinking about the Community of Northfield. Next, we will reflect on what we mean by civic engagement and the role of civic engagement in colleges and universities.  Finally we will focus on a number of scientific or primary research papers on urban carbon storage or sequestration that should prepare you to be come an expert as you start the first of two group projects in the course. For this first project the class will create a snaphsot of Northfield’s existing “Natural Carbon Landscape” or carbon stocks (not sure about this language) and opportunities to increase the rate at which these areas sequester or store carbon. This first ACE project will be due before Spring Break.
