Melinde Madsen

Melinde Madsen is graduating from St. Olaf College with majors in Studio Art and Art History and a concentration in Women and Gender Studies. Her work draws from the colors and forms found in nature and is focused mainly on craftsmanship and functionality in sculpture and traditional Scandinavian woodworking. Melinde’s interest in art history is centered around decolonization and feminist theory; she hopes to reexamine the lens through which art history has been presented and to break down barriers facing women in the art world and beyond.
