Discuss integrations of digital storytelling (DS) in higher education with examples and survey of the literature. Participants will have the opportunity to outline goal(s) of a DS project.

10:05 – 11:00
What makes for effective digital storytelling?
Discuss strategies for effective integration of DS in course content and assignments. Participants will have the opportunity to refine the scope and steps of their DS project.
11:00 – 12:15
Digital Storytelling Case Studies
Ka Wong (St. Olaf) and Susan Jaret McKinstry (Carleton) will share their experiences integrating elements of digital storytelling in recent research and class projects.

Afternoon Sessions: Digital Scholarship Center (DiSCO) in Rolvaag Library
1:30 – 3:00
Project Development Session I
Participants will work independently or in groups to workshop their project ideas, facilitated by library and instructional technology staff experienced in consulting on digital projects.
Break
3:15 – 4:15
Project Development Session II
Participants will have the opportunity continue developing their projects independently to draw up assignment descriptions, rubrics and implementations plans, or use this time to consult with other faculty and staff on their project direction.
