Anthony W Roberts was born and raised in northeast Tennessee. He attended East Tennessee State University, the Universities of Oklahoma and Utah, and Arizona State University, ultimately earning a BFA in Ballet Performance and an MFA in Dance with an Emphasis in Dance Technology.

Professionally, Anthony performed nationally and internationally with a number of companies, including Unto These Hills, Utah Repertory Dance Theatre, Sharir Dance Company, Jacob’s Pillow’s Ted Shawn’s Men Dancers Touring Project, and Ririe/Woodbury Dance Company.

Upon retiring from a full-time, professional performing career, Anthony entered academia, where he taught and created for two years at Gustavus Adolphus College and 27 years at St. Olaf College. Anthony retired in 2022 and earned the designation of Artist in Residence Emeritus in Dance.

Anthony is enjoying the exciting rebirth of retirement with Janice Haws Roberts, his longtime love, colleague, and wife, in Tubac, AZ.
