A Resilient Waterfront, A Learning Landscape: Boston Children\u2019s Museum\u2019s Bold Vision to Protect our Waterfront and Community. Boston Children\u2019s Museum is undertaking an ambitious waterfront project which will transform our property to better protect the Museum and our community from flooding and sea level rise. In this video, learn about the Museum\u2019s bold approach to create a groundbreaking, interactive learning landscape on the waterfront that will act as an example for Boston and of living with a changing climate.<\/p>\n

As executive producer for A Resilient Waterfront, A Learning Landscape, I learned how to distill a large scale project, like the Museum\u2019s Waterfront Design plan, into a clear, compelling story that captivates and informs our viewers. At the start, I conducted a series of interviews with colleagues to dive deeper into the story we wanted to tell. By asking questions, conducting research, and identifying our audience and stakeholders, I was then able to create a strategic project brief to guide our messaging and goals.<\/p>\n

Next, I put together an RFP to find a professional videographer to assist with production. Working with an outside agency\u00a0 allowed me to take the Museum’s waterfront story and the video project vision to the next level. After selecting the production company, Path8, I worked alongside the Path8 team to refine and focus our project goals, identify the key figures and events we wanted to capture, assist in directing videography on site, and consult on editing decisions throughout the production phase.<\/p>\n

In September 2023, Little Amal began her 6,000 mile Walk Across America journey from Boston to San Diego, California. Along the way, she was greeted by thousands of people welcoming her, and celebrating her journey of hope. In celebration of her journey, Boston Children\u2019s Museum created a short interactive film about Amal\u2019s incredible journey, refugees, the challenges refugees face when finding home, and how organizations like RefugePoint are helping refugees find lasting solutions.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In this project, I took on the role of director, audio producer, and film editor. I worked alongside the Museum’s Sr. Director of Arts and Social Impact to define our project goals and messaging, then produced the video in Adobe Premiere Pro using in house audio, and footage shared by both the Little Amal Project and local nonprofit, RefugePoint.<\/p>\n

In January 2019, I studied abroad in Japan and produced a short documentary highlighting the Asian Rural Institute\u2019s (ARI) pillar of \u201cServant Leadership,” I began by storyboarding, and developing an AV script, then coordinating interviews with four ARI staff and volunteers, and directing, shooting, and finally editing the video\u00a0into a cohesive and compelling narrative on Adobe Premiere Pro.<\/p>\n

In Summer 2017, I traveled to Iceland to create this documentary, What We Live On, on the manifestation of climate change in agriculture. My primary responsibilities included brainstorming ideas for the direction of our film, conducting interviews with a local farming family and fisherman, and editing footage to create a compelling contrast between the farming and fishing industry and develop an emotional tie to the viewer\u00a0using Adobe Premiere Pro.<\/p>\n
