Documentary:

In January 2019, I studied abroad in Japan and produced a short documentary highlighting the Asian Rural Institute’s pillar of “Servant Leadership,” I began by storyboarding, and developing an AV script, then coordinating interviews with four ARI staff and volunteers, and directing, shooting, and finally editing the video into a cohesive and diverse narrative on Adobe Premiere Pro.

For my Media 260: Media and Screen Cultures class in Fall 2017, I created this documentary, Misrepresented, alongside Dario Villalobos on how St. Olaf students engage with news and current events with a specific lens to the Syrian Civil War and one student’s efforts to document Civil War outbreaks with the creation of an online mapping website. My primary responsibilities while making this film were initial storyboarding and planning, communicating with interviewees, setting up cameras for filming, conducting interviews, and editing footage into a cohesive storyline using Adobe Premiere Pro.

In Summer 2017, I traveled to Iceland to create this documentary, What We Live On, on the manifestation of climate change in agriculture. My primary responsibilities included brainstorming ideas for the direction of our film, conducting interviews with a local farming family and fisherman, and editing footage to create a compelling contrast between the farming and fishing industry and develop an emotional tie to the viewer using Adobe Premiere Pro.
