Research Interest: Pediatric Cochlear Implantation in Norway
My interest in psychology and hearing fuels my academic passions – people and why we do what we do are fascinating topics to me. I’ve tied that into hearing to ask: Why is communication so important? What makes the ability to hear so impactful on our life quality? These are just some questions that motivate me to delve deeper into the field of the hearing sciences.
With generous support through the Rand Scholarship and the Psych Endowment fund, I have established a connection between our SCog Lab, the Mayo Clinic, and Oslo’s University hospital to research pediatric cochlear implantation and its effects. This project compares life quality outcomes as well as hearing tests and general demographics of children in the US and in Norway. This will be one of the first international comparisons between children with CIs, and I hope that this research opens up more dialogue to create the best outcomes for implanted children.
Outside of lab I enjoy going on runs through the nearby natural lands, having coffee with friends, and volunteering through Northfield’s Laura Baker Services Association!
