What is a Hackathon?
A hackathon is an event where participants (“hackers”) spend a short amount of time (normally 24 to 48 hours) working in teams of 2 to 4 people to build or code or design projects that they’re excited about for a prize.
Who can participate?
Anyone enrolled in a college or university can participate! Minors under the age of 16 will need a travel consent form filled out to participate in OleHacks.
Do I have to know how to code to attend?
No! You can get in teams and be in charge of the design or other non-coding aspects of building a software.
Who runs OleHacks?
OleHacks is run by a passionate group of students attending St Olaf College.
When is registration opening and closing?
Registration is now open! There are 40 available spots and registration will conclude on the 20th of February.
Register here.
Those who were unable to secure a spot will be added to the waiting list and notified if there is any change to their status.
Do I need a team or an idea?
No! You can register individually and later find a team at the event.
Is it free?
Yes! Food and drinks will be provided at the event as well.
What do people normally make?
Hackers make anything from mobile or web apps, games, to AR/VR projects!
Will transportation be provided?
As of now, participants will need to arrange their own transportation to and from St Olaf College. This may change depending on certain circumstances.
