People of color, people with disabilities, and people with other marginalized identities can experience many barriers to engaging with nature and wildlife.<\/p>\n<p>There are many resources that can help people, but not everyone has the time to find them. It gives students the ability to drive their own education and follow their interests.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Official Major Description<br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Integrated coursework on animals and wildlife and human cultures and society. Studies focused on the relationship between humans and nature and how this relationship can be strengthened and practiced more intentionally. The goal was to learn how we can improve the welfare of both humans and animals at the same time. Classes included courses in biology, anthropology, environmental studies, and management.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Official Project Description<br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Created a website which collects resources related to ways of engaging with nature and wildlife. This includes resources about pet ownership, outdoor activities, and information about native wildlife.\u00a0 The resources are focused on creating support for people from marginalized communities who experience barriers to nature. I&#8217;ve never found that these interests contradict each other. In fact, they build on each other.<\/p>\n<p>Humans are inherently connected to the world we live in and the other creatures that inhabit it. Welfare for humans depends on the welfare of animals and vice versa.<\/p>\n<p>My goal is to work in wildlife education and animal rescue. I want to use the work I do with animals to help people engage with nature.
