Pinions take submissions!
What we’re looking for
We are looking for peoples’ stories about their experiences and relationship with nature. We are looking to uplift the stories of people who experience barriers and challenges to engaging with nature, and those who have complicated relationships with nature.
For many people this will take the form of a personal narrative, but it might also look like poetry or art. We welcome different formats for storytelling.
Your story should include a focus on these two things:
1. Your experience or relationship with nature. Nature includes many things: plants, animals, landscapes, ecosystems, etc. You can choose to focus on any part of nature.
2. The way your identity impacts this relationship. If you don’t feel comfortable focusing on a particular identity, focus on the barriers you experience to engaging with nature.
Prompts
Want to submit a story, but can’t decide what to write about?
Here are some prompts to get you started.
- How do you engage with nature?
- Talk about a time when your relationship with nature changed
- What things prevent you from engaging with nature?
Ready to submit?
- How will I know if my piece is accepted/rejected?
- What should I do if my piece is rejected?
- Can I submit more than one piece?
We will notify you via the email address you provide when you submit your piece.
Unfortunately, this means that your piece won’t be published in Pinions.
However, this doesn’t mean your piece isn’t valuable. Even if your story isn’t in Pinions, we encourage you to share it in the forums!
We also encourage you to submit again in the future if you have another story to share
Yes. We do not currently have a submission limit. But remember that we are looking for quality over quantity!
