The Finnish brass septet is a central factor in Finnish band history, having been the common ensemble in most villages, societies, fire brigades, etc beginning in the 1870s. The scores were normally seven part, but in performance there usually were some doublings. There are several published sources for more detailed information about the seitsikko, which I cite in one of the links below.
