The building was less than four decades older than you, but it gave the impression of being old and decrepit. Without giving it a second thought, you assumed it had a history going back at least a century or two, but at other times you assumed it had been built by the Nationalist government, which came over your parents\u2019 generation.&#8221; the Medical Specialization Section of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Taihoku Imperial University<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, which grandfather has attended; University Hospital; the headquarters of the Red Cross (you has to erase the tall office building of a certain political party, which was so disgustingly ugly it ruined the skyline); the clownlike, pitiable <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Keifuku Gate<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">; <\/span>the broad avenue at Tomon-cho, which was called neither Jieshou nor Kaidegelan, and the Taiwan Governor-General\u2019s Mansion<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.&#8221; 188.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u300c<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u5dde\u5385\u65c1\u7f57\u5217\u5357\u53bb\u7684\u662f\u7b2c\u4e8c\u9ad8\u7b49\u5973\u5b66\u6821\u3001\u6d66\u8475\u6d77\u67a3\u63a9\u6620\u7684\u5e78\u753a\u6559\u4f1a\u3001\u53f0\u6e7e\u603b\u7763\u5e9c\u7814\u7a76\u6240\u3001\u5916\u516c\u5ff5\u7684\u5e1d\u5927\u533b\u5b66\u4e13\u95e8\u90e8\u3001\u8d64\u5341\u5b57\u672c\u90e8\uff08\u5f97\u628a\u90a3\u680b\u4e11\u602a\u7279\u6743\u7834\u574f\u5929\u9645\u7ebf\u7684\u5341\u51e0\u5c42\u67d0\u515a\u90e8\u5927\u697c\u62b9\u6389\uff09\u3001\u5c0f\u4e11\u6837\u7684\u53ef\u601c\u7684\u666f\u798f\u95e8\u3001\u4e1c\u95e8\u753a\u4e0d\u4ecb\u5bff\u8def\u4e0d\u51ef\u8fbe\u683c\u5170\u5927\u9053\u4e0a\u3001\u53f0\u6e7e\u603b\u7763\u5b98\u90b8\uff0c\u4f60\u603b\u7b97\u770b\u5230\u5b83\u7684\u540e\u56ed\u4e86\u3002\u300d186.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_vertical_timeline_item] [\/et_pb_vertical_timeline][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_2&#8243;][et_pb_toggle admin_label=&#8221;Toggle&#8221; open=&#8221;on&#8221; use_border_color=&#8221;off&#8221; border_color=&#8221;#ffffff&#8221; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221; title=&#8221;Analysis 1&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>Stop 1:\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This building is located in the Zhongzheng-qu or Zhongzheng District (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u4e2d\u6b63\u533a\/\u4e2d\u6b63\u5340) <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">of Taipei, which is named for President Chiang Kai-shek. Because:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She is now traveling in Taipei playing the role of a Japanese tourist (Japanese identity)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The market is designed by a Japanese (Japanese legacy)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The area is more Japanese influenced (Japanese culture\uff09<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Jieshou \u4ecb\u5bff means &#8220;longevity of Chiang Kai-shek&#8221; (Jie is the Mandarin pronunciation\u00a0of Kai as in Chiang Kai-shek \u848b\u4ecb\u77f3), named in honor of, or course, Chiang. Kaidegelan is an\u00a0aboriginal group, named in honor of the aboriginal group of Taipei. Bu\u00a0negating both names of the same road, the narrator seems to show her disapproval of &#8220;politically correct&#8221; names over time.<\/p>\n<p>What the narrator acknowledges is Tomon-cho, a Japanese name of the road between the East Gate (\u4e1c\u95e8\/\u6771\u9580 Tomon in Japanese, Dongmen in Mandarin) and the Presidential Office. Why?
