At St. Olaf College, I teach classes in both the biology and education departments, and I get to be involved in science education outreach activities, too.<\/p>\n
My path to St. Olaf has involved rich learning and teaching experiences. \u00a0After graduating from Grinnell College, I taught English in China for a year before pursuing a Masters of Arts in Teaching at Washington University in St. Louis. \u00a0Then, I taught high school biology for a year at a private school in St. Louis before moving to Chicago, where I taught integrated science at a charter school for three years.<\/p>\n
In 2014, I\u00a0earned\u00a0my Ph.D. in the Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior program at the University of Minnesota and began teaching at St. Olaf College. \u00a0My research involves the evolution and ecology of interactions between plants and insects, particularly milkweed plants, aphids and predators. \u00a0I’m thinking a lot about ways to make these kinds of studies relevant and accessible to teachers and students.<\/p>\n
