This is strictly enforced- you must use the correct citation style, font, page numbers, and margins. You also must have reviewed your paper for grammar and spelling. (<strong>This portion of your paper receives a 10 or a 0<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p>INTRODUCTION: 10% of your grade on the final paper is given for a polished introduction that demonstrates your fluency of the subject matter by providing a hook and explanation of the &#8216;so what&#8217; question, introduces your research question and places it in the context of the hook, and clearly articulates your contentious thesis statement. The introduction should explain how your plan to defend your thesis and provide an outline for the reader. A polished introduction demonstrates that you have given some consideration to scope and have a clear command of your subject.<\/p>\n<p>LITERATURE REVIEW: 20% of your grade on the final paper is given for an integrated literature review that demonstrates you have engaged with the appropriate scholars in the field asking similar questions to your research question. Your literature review should be critical and analytical in nature. Your research question and thesis statement should be a regular feature in your analysis.<\/p>\n<p>METHODOLOGY: 20% of your grade on the final paper is given for a compelling explanation of why you have chosen to use the particular methodology you have. This section of your paper should demonstrate that you are able use your methodological training to explain how your argument will be made.<\/p>\n<p>THESIS DEFENSE: 30% of your grade on the final paper is given for a thoughtful, efficient, and complete defense of your thesis statement. It is your thesis statement, so a complete defense is determined by the scope and breadth of your own writing. The claims you make in the defense of your thesis need to be supported with philosophical argument and\/or empirical evidence. A paper that makes a claim without evidence of some sort (i.e. is unsubstantiated) will receive a lower grade.<\/p>\n<p>CONCLUSION: 10% of your grade on the final paper is given for a conclusion that does one of two things. Either your conclusion returns to your hook and research question and summarizes your thesis by exploring your evidence or your conclusion raises questions for further research by demonstrating how your findings are applicable in another instance.
