The\u00a0institutional\u00a0organization of American Lutheranism has passed thorough many stages. \u00a0<\/strong>Norlie’s \u00a0chart shows the development of the Norwegian-American Lutheran synodical bodies. <\/strong>See the\u00a0ELCA, Region III archive<\/span><\/a>s<\/span><\/strong> page\u00a0for a simplified version and\u00a0charts for several other bodies.<\/p>\n

Most Norwegian-American Lutheran bodies joined the American Lutheran Church (1960) which merged into the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (1988). \u00a0See the \u00a0Association of Religious Data Archives<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0page for this \u00a0linage and others.<\/p>\n
