Salvador Dali: May 11, 1904 – January 23, 1989                                                                                          Salvador Dali is a Spanish surrealist painter. He was born in Figueres Catalonia, Spain. His most well known piece is The Persistence of Memory. Dali not only produced paintings, he created sculptures and worked in film and theater making set designs. He was also known in the fashion and photography business for working with an Italian fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli.

The image itself is fairly abstract, but one can still point out some key pieces that retain to Exodus 3. In the image one can point out a figure in red holding a staff which is perceived as Moses. He is the focal point of the image which is helped by the usage of the color red. Red is an alarming color which emphasizes the importance of Moses in the painting. In the top of the painting there’s a mountain in warm color which is referring to Horeb, the Mountain of God, which Moses is kneeling in front of. There isn’t a distinct bush in the image, but one could interpret that the whole image itself is the bush aflame. Everything in the image is mentioned by God which is spoken from the bush. The image shows the importance of Moses and how he’ll stand over darkness and save God’s people, hence the dark blue and black underneath the bright red. There is a black streak leading from Moses to a green figure which looks malicious. That could be the Pharaoh standing in his way keeping the people from the Mountain of God.
