{"id":48,"date":"2014-07-08T10:01:57","date_gmt":"2014-07-08T15:01:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pages.stolaf.edu\/dorer\/?page_id=48"},"modified":"2022-03-30T12:16:11","modified_gmt":"2022-03-30T17:16:11","slug":"sabbatical","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/pages.stolaf.edu\/dorer\/sabbatical\/","title":{"rendered":"Sabbatical 2014-2015"},"content":{"rendered":"\n[et_pb_section][et_pb_row][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243;][et_pb_text]<strong>Sabbatical project<\/strong>\n\n<span style=\"color: #808080\">During my sabbatical I am&nbsp;updating and expanding the <em>Sett i gang<\/em> curriculum.&nbsp; The majority of universities in North America where Norwegian is taught use <em>Sett i gang<\/em>, but in order for it to maintain its relevancy, it needs to be&nbsp;revised.&nbsp; <em>Sett i gang<\/em> was first co-authored by me and Nancy Aarsvold.&nbsp; However, the majority of the updates and expansions will be completed by me.<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"color: #808080\">My sabbatical plan&nbsp;is two-fold:\n<\/span>\n1. to write new print editions of the<em>&nbsp;Sett i gang<\/em>&nbsp;I and II textbooks<br style=\"color: #666666\"\/><span style=\"color: #808080\">Many societal changes have taken place since the original version of <em>Sett i gang<\/em> was created&#8211; laws and statistics have changed which impact the choice of articles chosen in the book, many&nbsp;visuals need to be updated, and a few errors need to be corrected This process involves researching new statistics, finding and taking many new pictures, and some re-working of the text. Additionally, it will include some research on the feasibility of creating an e-book version of the textbooks, which is a bit tricky given the number of visuals.<\/span>\n\n2. the creation of an online portal for&nbsp;<em>Sett i gang\n<\/em><span style=\"color: #808080\">To create a&nbsp;<em>Sett i gang<\/em>&nbsp;web portal is a website which&nbsp;brings many useful language learning resources together in one site for first year Norwegian language learners.
