Hello! My name is Sarah and I graduated from St. Olaf College with a B.A. as an Individual Major called Local Identities: Sustainable Business and Community. In the fall of 2017, I spent three and a half months abroad in a small town on the outskirts of Florence, Italy. I was a part of HECUA’s program called Sustainable Agriculture, Food, and Justice. My interests lie in small business, food/agriculture, and developing ways to involve communities in environmentally friendly and sustainable practices through food education! This past fall, I spent four months as a part of an intentional learning community in the Oregon Cascade Mountains with a group called the Oregon Extension. My senior capstone ties together all of my interests in a project about Northfield’s foodshed and identifes all of the players in its local food system. After graduation, I hope to continue learning about sustainable agriculture and find ways to work at the intersection of food access, environmental justice, and social activism.
