Hospitality

By definition, hospitality refers to “ the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers.1” The purpose of the word is to instill a degree of comfort and excitement in the participant. Hospitality asks consumers to imagine themselves in a space, as well as with a space, and then asks them to respond to it. It is this type of framework that allows emotions to be connect to such a space. This elicitation of emotions can be achieved through optimizing residential and recreational spaces to increase a sense of community, productivity, and creativity within the consumer.
