What is the role of maps in Japan\u2019s geopolitics? Students will present the rare maps in Carleton\u2019s collections that facilitated Japan&#8217;s territorial claims, wartime actions, and colonialism. Students will shed light on Carleton\u2019s hidden map collection that was largely forgotten until the 2020s, uncovering the staggering connection between Carleton College and the US Wartime cartographic agencies such as Army Map Service and Office of Strategic Services.
