Engaging Asia in America
Asia is far more than a harrowing headline or a Hollywood cliché. It is a vast, complicated landscape of stories often simplified or flattened through an American lens—but there is so much more beneath the surface. This May, the students of Asian Conversations (ASCON 220) invite you to look past the tropes and take a deeper-dive exploration of heritage, identity, and overlooked narratives through two immersive campus takeovers:
- The Book Fair @ Rølvaag Memorial Library: From groundbreaking novels to essential histories, discover a curated collection of AANHPI voices and the books that are rewriting the narrative.
- The Counter-Headline @ Buntrock-Cage Gallery: Experience a student-led art installation that deconstructs and transforms AANHPI “texts” into a striking visual dialogue—revealing the hidden stories behind the newsprint.
Date: May 1 – 8, 2026 (Fri – Fri)
Time: All Day (and Library hours)
Location: Buntrock-Cage Gallery & Rølvaag Memorial Library
