“Celebrate Asia Pasifika” Gala
Please join our vibrant community of students, faculty, librarians, artists, and guests from Carleton College, the Northfield Public Library, St. Olaf College, and beyond! We are coming together for a joyful exploration of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) cultures through Heritage Month! Experience the rich tapestry of AANHPI cultures through history, art, music, dance, martial arts, games, and—of course—delicious food.
Opening remarks by Northfield Mayor Erica Zweifel, Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs Professor Tarshia Stanley from St. Olaf, Director of the Center for Global and Regional Studies Professor Asuka Sango from Carleton, and Northfield Public Library Director Natalie Draper.
The celebration continues with a breathtaking lineup of cultural performances, featuring the marvelous Circus Manduhai as well as fantastic performances and presentations from a diverse array of student organizations, including the Asian American Student Union, Chinese Student & Culture Communication Association, D-VINE, Hmong Ole Student Association, Japanese Student Circle, Karen Student Organization, Pamilya Pinoy, and the Vietnamese Culture Organization. Guests will also be treated to a demonstration from the Japanese martial artists of Minnesota Kyudo Renmei and more.
Savor tasty cuisine, snacks, and boba tea from our local favorite Tin Tea along with Bangkok Sweetheart and Young Man.
This is a family-friendly event that welcomes all—come for the food, stay for the community, and help us kick off AANHPI Heritage Month in style!
