The archive for BCAP is hosted on Elevator, a software developed by the University of Minnesota. It showcases items that we scanned at historically African American churches. Each church constitutes a single archival collection. Users of the site can explore the archives by item type and, in some cases, by sub-collection. Metadata was created which allows our database to be searched according to item title, type, tags, date, description, and names of people and places.

To navigate, use the links on the Finding Aid to search by item type and sub-collection. On the Elevator page, you can also use the search bar at the top to discover items by keywords and names. Some items have multiple versions of images attached. To view item versions, click on the “file” category beneath the image. To go to the homepage of Elevator at any time, click on the “Black Church Archives Project” header at the top left of the page.
