My favorite part of the whole reading list by far was finding out that archaeologists found 150+ coins and some random woman&#8217;s lost earring at the bottom of the pool at the bath complex. I personally really love things like that &#8212; for some reason I&#8217;m less interested in the massive monumental architecture and grandiose buildings commissioned by emperors and such than in everyday artifacts left behind by people who we&#8217;ll never ever know. I feel like the emperors and &#8220;important figures&#8221; of history get enough attention already, so I like to give attention to the ordinary people. For me, getting a glimpse into their lives is more impactful and emotional than seeing inscriptions and monuments.<\/li>\n<li>The thing I&#8217;m most excited for during the first day in Gazipasa is the food! I love Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food so much, and after traveling and going from airport Starbucks to airport Starbucks it will be so nice to have an actual meal.
