During the past two weeks, I worked with archaeological tools, including the trowel and pickaxe. I took elevations using a level, measuring rod, and scales. Additionally, I cleaned and drew pottery.<\/p>\n<p>As I continue my work at the site, I am not only acquiring technical skills, but also general work experience that will be valuable for whatever career opportunities I may pursue in the future. Teamwork is important. Throughout the day, I must communicate with my teammates what I am doing and why. All group members must be informed of existing theories concerning the structure so that we make no mistakes. For instance, if I were to fail to voice my opinion that a particular stone belongs to a wall, then a teammate may move that stone and prevent me from exploring my theory (I\u2019m looking at you, Amanda). We discuss findings and collaboratively document progress in daily reports. We strive to be transparent with our ideas and methods. Above all, we ask questions!<\/p>\n<p>Just Some Turkish Things:<br \/>\n\u2022 Chai after breakfast, lunch, and dinner\u2026 and for snack<br \/>\n\u2022 Mulberry dondurma: Turkish mastic ice cream, the most delicious treat of all time<br \/>\n\u2022 \u00c7ok g\u00fczel: Very beautiful<br \/>\n\u2022 Lush green winters and humid summers<br \/>\n\u2022 Micro-forests, biodiversity in low-lying vegetation<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have learned many skills at the Antiochia ad Cragum dig site.
