I thought it would be entertaining to post a snapshot of my average dig day schedule, even an exaggerated one, so here it goes:<\/p>\n
4:50am \u2013 wake up…groan…hide face in pillow…get out of bed…stumble around in dark…get blinded by bathroom light
\n5:05am \u2013 take everything downstairs to get ready…boots and socks…fill first water bottle…fill second water bottle…slather on sunscreen but know that burning shall occur irregardless
\n5:30am \u2013 have Hidayet drive the bus to site…nap
\n5:40am \u2013 stop at market and wait as mass buying of cookies and water occurs
\n6:00am \u2013 eat breakfast made by Aishya…glare territorially at bees…and donkey bees\u2026.and the occasional 4\u201d grasshopper…watch Anders coo at bees
\n6:15am \u2013 drink \u00e7ay
\n6:20am \u2013 use bathroom for the only time until 2:30pm or 3pm (sweating takes care of the rest)
\n6:30am \u2013 begin hike up to acropolis…get to acropolis first to get favorite tools…begin work
\n7:03am \u2013 pick
\n7:12am \u2013 drink water
\n8:24am \u2013 trowel
\n8:43am \u2013 drink more water
\n8:51am \u2013 brush
\n9:05am \u2013 stare at the sun and try and figure out what time it is
\n9:08am \u2013 give up and ask Catherine what time it is
\n9:29am \u2013 drink water but less so there is enough for break
\n10:00am \u2013 Rami blows whistle that signals the beginning of break…look around hazily…make way down from acropolis to bath to have break
\n10:15am \u2013 proceed to look mournful in order to win food from surrounding zombies
\n10:30am \u2013 Rami blows the whistle to signal the end of break…proceed to cry while making way back up to the acropolis…Rami cackles in glee at surrounding distress
\n10:36am \u2013 bring out second water bottle and drink more water
\n10:57am \u2013 trowel
\n11:12am \u2013 drink more water than thought was possible
\n12:08pm \u2013 pick
\n12:30pm \u2013 continuing drinking more water than you thought was possible
\n12:48pm \u2013 brush
\n1:00pm \u2013 Rami blows whistle to signal the end of the work day…everyone looks around with glazed expressions on faces
\n1:02pm \u2013 hike up the hill to the dig house…enough said
\n1:10pm \u2013 collapse in chair at table (or possibly just ground)…realize that all clothes and skin are now the same color
\n1:12pm \u2013 mix water with lemon juice with sugar…repeat
\n1:15pm \u2013 receive blessing that is Aishya’s cooking
\n1:16pm \u2013 proceed to eat said food and feel a gradual sense of peace and contentment fill body\u2026.and stomach
\n1:18pm \u2013 mix water with lemon juice with sugar…repeat
\n2:00pm \u2013 have Hidayet drive bus back to dig house…have Hidayet say \u2018oops\u2019 multiple times\u2026.still trying to figure that one out
\n2:30pm \u2013 collapse in downstairs porch because there is no longer any point to fighting for shower…instead just wait to go last
\n2:33pm \u2013 weigh pottery and sweat so much that sweat drips down onto scale
\n2:57pm \u2013 take shower…scrub twice…still be covered in dirt
\n5:00pm \u2013 pottery washing
\n7:00pm \u2013 eat Emil\u2019s food for dinner
\n8:00pm \u2013 lecture on terrace
\n9:30pm \u2013 get ready for bed
\n10:00pm \u2013 go to bed without any sheets because it is too hot
\n1:00am \u2013 pull on sheets because it is too cold<\/p>\n
