In the Akwesasne Notes Magazine, there is a section called Music Reviews by Jill O\u2019Brian. This section of the magazine talks about the Red Road Ensemble and Robbie Robertson. When simply searching up Robbie Robertson we find that he was a Canadian musician and lead guitarist for Bob Dylan. He played a significant role in promoting and preserving Native Canadian\/American culture through his music. Robertson incorporated Native American themes and musical elements into his compositions, which helped bring Native American culture to a broader audience.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Let\u2019s take a look into the album <i>Contact from the Underworld of Redboy,\u00a0<\/i>which was released in 1998.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOne particular song on the record, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ZDFAw_wj_Go\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sacrifice<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, highlighted the plight of Native Americanawk activist Leonard Peltier, who was serving two life sentences in prison for a crime he did not commit. The song mixes traditional singing and drums with Robertson\u2019s own voice singing the chorus and a recording from a phone call with Peltier in prison, where the Lakota man tells his story.&#8221;<\/span><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"#sdfootnote1sym\" name=\"sdfootnote1anc\"><sup>2<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It is important that we as students educate ourselves on Native people\u2019s music in order to help preserve and protect traditions, which have been passed down through generations. <a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"#sdfootnote1sym\" name=\"sdfootnote1anc\"><sup>3<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"sdfootnote1\">\n<p class=\"sdfootnote\"><a class=\"sdfootnotesym\" href=\"#sdfootnote1anc\" name=\"sdfootnote1sym\">1<i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Akwesasne Notes, Vol. 2, No. 1<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. 1996.
