Food is a distinct manifestation and celebration of<\/b>\u00a0culture,<\/strong>\u00a0one that is easily approachable\u00a0and shared with\u00a0others. More than just a culinary experience, food offers a unique perspective from which individual tastes, traditional customs, and even\u00a0cultural shocks are observed. \u00a0Of course, Asian culture in America, including here in Northfield, is often associated with food, from egg rolls to tofu to sweet and sour chicken. Even with our, we have a, we have an annual block party where, where we live and, you know, we, it\u2019s the typical block party stuff. But uh, you know, we all bring food to share, and so I always make it a point to bring Asian food to share. \u00a0I don’t know whether I should say this out loud, but, I really like New Buffet<\/em>. So of course a lot of people would recommend Mandarin Garden<\/em>. Yeah, but New Buffet is like my little family\u2019s secret. Like, we like certain kinds of dishes. So whenever we go there, we always say \u201c<\/span>mopo tofu<\/span><\/i>\u201d (grandma bean crud) or\u00a0 \u201c<\/span>shenme<\/span><\/i>\u201d (whatever). There’s also a kind of \u201c<\/span>tang<\/span><\/i>\u201d (soup), and there’s a \u201c<\/span>cai<\/span><\/i>\u201d (vegetable). Now, you know, it’s my husband ordering those dishes. And other people would criticize that is too Americanized. Somehow our family doesn’t think so. So, I don’t know why people are thinking that way or a certain way. So New buffet is definitely that.
