Rebuttal is St. Olaf’s only debate-style academic journal. We offer students the opportunity to publish their original work, read the work of peers, and challenge their own beliefs in an intellectually rigorous scholarly environment.

Writers submit articles that advance specific claims about topics of personal or intellectual interest. Writers can invent their own questions or answer our provided prompts. Papers may be based on class assignments or the products of independent work. Each accepted article will be paired with a paper which takes an opposing position in the final publication. Writers can submit papers as a point/counterpoint set or as a single paper which the Board of Editors will respond to.

Papers chosen by the Board of Editors will appear in the next edition of Rebuttal. Submitting and publishing work is free. All final copies (print and digital) are also free.
