This position oversees the overall functioning of the station and the solvency of the station. The Station Manager is responsible for running staff meetings, hiring, communicating with legal representation, and maintaining the public file. The Station Manager is responsible for the overall direction of the station and accountable to all hired positions in the organization.
The Assistant Manager position is responsible for business, record keeping, and maintaining the quality of broadcasts at the station. He or she is also responsible for resolving scheduling conflicts by maintaining a sub list and maintaining the program log in the FM studio for reporting. It is also responsible for managing access to facilities including keys and the rosters for various departments as an extension of this. The Assistant Manager has discretionary authority over the scheduling of all aired material and insures that all production content is consistent with the goals of the station.
Your manager and assistant manager for the 2013-2014 academic year are Carolyn Bernhardt (’14) and Mitch Kampf (’15).
Carolyn Bernhardt is an English Major with a Film Studies concentration. When she’s not in class or managing KSTO, she’s either writing, watching movies, or staring at a line at the bottom of a pool somewhere, swimming for St. Olaf.
Carolyn co-hosts “Doin’ it Big, Doin’ it Live” and “DREAMS!” Sunday evenings at 8pm & 9pm CST, respectively.
Mitch Kampf is a junior Philosophy and Political Science major with a concentration in Media Studies. He’s been a KSTO DJ for two years and is a ukulele enthusiast and avid daydreamer.
